The AWANA program is for children 3 years old (by December 1st) through the 6th grade.

Cubbies are 3-5 years old. A child may start the program the 2 years before Kindergarten. All Cubbies must be able to follow directions and sit during various learning sessions. They must be able to be separated from their parents for 1 ½ hours. It is recommended that a parent, grandparent, or adult guardian remain in the building. If you must go run an errand, please let us know.

Sparks are children entering Kindergarten through 2nd grade. All Sparks must be able to follow directions and be able to be separated from their parents for 1 ½ hours.

Truth and Training Children are in 3rd through 6th grade. All Truth and Training children have game time together, and then they break into their smaller groups of Truth and Training teams.

Each department (Cubbies, Sparks, and Truth and Training) has a specific game time, handbook time and council time. We have special nights that we do fun things to earn points. Special nights are planned in advance and a schedule is provided and posted.

AWANA Club starts promptly at 6:30pm every Wednesday from September through May. If Carman-Ainsworth schools are closed for breaks or a snow day, then AWANA will not be meeting. Dinner is available in the fellowship hall on Wednesdays from 5:30pm-6:15pm for those involved in AWANA at a cost of $3 per adult and $2 per child.

AWANA ends at 8:00pm and children must be picked up by an adult promptly at that time. Cubbies are picked up in their classroom. Sparks are picked up from the gymnasium, and Truth and Training children are picked up from the Fellowship Hall.

If your child has special needs, please let us know so that we can have any necessary supports in place to help your child succeed in our program.

a. Leaving Early

If you have to take your child home before AWANA is over, you must advise a leader or secretary that you have your child. If you see your child in the hall with a “buddy” or in the bathroom, do not take him/her out of the building without telling
his/her leader. We are monitoring your child the entire evening, and we take our responsibility very seriously.

b. Injuries/Sickness

Your child is our utmost priority. Occasionally, we have bumps and bruises when the children play the AWANA games. We have several leaders that are doctors and nurses, and they will help any injured child. We need to have your home and cell
phone numbers on file in case we need to contact you. Please do not send a child to AWANA that is coughing, sneezing, vomiting, or feverish. We will send a child home if he/she is ill.

c. Allergies

We do our best to make sure your child is in a safe environment. If your child has allergies or has any medical restrictions, please provide this information on the medical release posted on the website or available at the team registration tables.
We serve popcorn, lemonade, pizza, cake, sundaes, etc. on occasion. If your child is allergic to certain foods, please send in a “special snack” for them on that evening and give it to your child’s leader.
